Heels: Really Worth it in the Long Run?

Heels have been around since 3500 B.C. Though they didn’t pick up fashion until the 1700s. Heels started out as a class status. Men along with women wore them. Now in recent times, worn for reasons from sex appeal to power; heels have become a prominent part of our culture mainly, for women. However, studies are now showing that heels are not as good as people would hope.

Wearing high heels can cause many health problems. Because of the constraint and difference in weight distribution the following can occur:
                *Sprains
                *Bunions
                *Corns
                *Ingrown toenails
                *Flat feet
*Plantar fasciitis (tear in the tissue on the bottom of the foot)
                *Achilles tendon injuries
Because of these various problems, there can also be problems with knees, hips and even backs.

So after learning about all of those problems that occur, why would anyone continue to wear them? This popular trend is not one that appears to be ending any time soon. The real reason? There are a few. Height is a very strong reason, women who have long legs are viewed to be more beautiful according to all the magazines and ads. Heels are the number one way to appear to have longer legs. Another reason is that they make women’s butts bigger. This happens because women have to adjust their weight by arching their backs to keep from falling forward. After reviewing all the facts, heels really aren’t physically worth the pain for what they appear to deliver.
