Techno the Terrible

Techno cat sensation "tweaked" out on ecstasy

                            Techno the Terrible
There is a new artist among the techno/ dub-step era known as Destroid. It is a conglomeration of the techno gods Excision, Datsik and DJ Sawka. There are a couple of different branches of techno music to be familiar with. They include dub-step and acid house music. This band associated itself with both, and were officially recognized in the techno community on October 31st, 2012. Since then, they have been playing in every heart- pounding North America city, and are the biggest thing right now to hit the techno music industry.

We all know that it is common among these raves to use drugs. The most popular of which include LSD, marijuana and ecstasy. Today I'm dwelling on the latter. It is typical behavior of hardcore techno dub step goers to use the drug known as ecstasy to get their rave on. I learned from several articles that ecstasy after taken, causes you to clench your jaw, hence the use of pacifiers come in to prevent this.

It is noted in almost every medical journal what we already know, that ecstasy over hypes the brain, but new research is suggesting that the drug may cause long term brain damage. Animals have been studied religiously and the results prove that the nerve endings of the brain cells are eroding, and at a fast pace, while on ecstasy. Research is still underway to see if this same effect could happen to humans. Upon this though, are the many deaths associated from techno music and the use of ecstasy. Many will argue that the victim of such scenarios parish from overheating or from too much water. The truth is that they are overdosing and exercising, stimulating the brain too much.

I am not a big fan of techno music to begin with mainly because I find the entire genre boring. Who wants to listen to a song without words, a song that sounds similar to the function on a failing computer. I don’t like what the industry represents, promoting drugs. sex and a total loss of control, as advertised by the dub step, acid house genre. Nonetheless, I do hope that society will come to recognize a problem with techno music. There are laws regarding alcohol within concert limits, and I find it only wise to instill laws regarding drug use to teens at raves.

  1. Almost all music genres have used drugs. It's not just techno. Don't get me wrong, I don't like techno either, but there is no "problem" in the techno music genre that isn't in all other genres. The rock industry for instance is know for "drugs, sex, and rock and roll" as the saying goes. All 80s music is about sex, drugs, and masturbation. People are already aware of the drugs used in the music industry and there is nothing anyone can really do about it. Yu can't stop the world from spinning so how can you get rid of drugs in the music? If that happened, we would no longer have music.

  2. I agree with Lynnell, techno is definitely not the only music genre that is associated with drugs. There are many songs I can think of that talk about drugs in their lyrics. Every genre is associated with some type of drug. I mean many hip-hop and rap songs talk about marijuana, alchohol, and sex. But, this is not the case with all hip-hop/rap music, so im sure there are techno artists who don't talk about, or use drugs.

  3. Chelsea I'm also not a fan of techno. I never thought the sound of a computer could ever beat the sound of an acoustic guitar, but I have to use the old adage "to every man his own". Just like me you don't feel same way about techno music as others do, but in no way does that mean it is a boring or crap genre. It's just not for you. Also The thing about music and drugs they will always, always go hand in hand. It doesn't matter what genre you listen to, there will always be a drug widely used by the people who listen to it.

  4. All of you are missing the point of the article. I am not saying why techno is bad music. I am saying why the genre is bad for eliciting drug use and doing nothing about it. The focus is on drugs and research indicating why these drugs can have long lasting effects. I am well aware this happens in all genres, but other genres for instance country music, and country music festivals monitor the use of such drugs,by checking people for alcohol a the gate. Techno concerts do not. There are no regulations and it is wrong. Please go back and re read my information before you falsely target my opinions and my character.
