Pay For Play?

A lot of attention has been brought up
about the the idea of college athletes being compensated for their play. The NCAA is making bank on athletes such as Johnny Manziel and Tim Tebow when he played. They get to use the players likenesses and sell merchandise with nothing going back to the athletes.

Yes, these athletes are getting their schooling payed for. But so are the kids with 4.0 GPA's and high test scores, and there not endangering their bodies day in and day out. Especially with the risks of concussions and such accidents as Eric LeGrands from Rutgers. Eric is now paralyzed from a football hit he made in 2010. Now for the rest of his life he lives with struggles none of us can comprehend.

With the risks of these sports and the demand we have on these athletes we should pay them in respect to the entertainment they provide. I think the NCAA could find some sort of compensation out of the
871.6 MILLION dollars they made in 2012.

  1. I agree with the idea that college athletes should be pay with more money. For one fact, these guys play the game with their future at risk not knowing what will ever happen at the end of a particular game. A player may face a difficult situation in a game that may not allow then to play sport for ever.

  4. I also agree that college athletes should be paid with more money. They are putting their bodies on the line to play the sport that they love and support the school. At any moment in time they could get injured, and have their lives changed for forever. People are also selling their jerseys and making money off of them so I think that if they are going to use their name they should get a part of the profit since they are the reason the jersey is selling. Without the name on the back of some of the jerseys they would not sell like they do now.
